February was all about travel but this month, it’s back to work.
I mean, I’ve been working this whole time but it’s time to get back into the office. I’m focused this month on getting everything organized at the office, getting out to more meetings, attempting to network (while still making it to pick-up) and on the blog side of things, working on all things Derby. And as much as I love working from home in my pjs, I think getting dressed up for work and hitting the office makes me more productive. So I’ve been trying to avoid reaching for jeans every day and working more of my business basics back into the mix. All the while avoiding the boring black pants + sweater combo that I can default to more often than not.
One of my biggest tips when looking to freshen up your work outfits, is to buy tops that you can get lots of mileage out of. I generally like to pick tops that I know I can dress down for a more casual feel or ones that you can glam up with fun earrings, great denim and killer heels.
I’d been eying this gingham top with plans to pair it with white jeans or denim shorts for spring and summer. But rather than keep it tucked away until the weather decides to cooperate, I’ve broken it out for dinner with dark denim and heels and like here, for work. I may even like it better dressed up than I do for a more laid-back look.
Clearly gingham is all over the place these days, so I’ve pulled together a few other gingham tops that you can break out for the office – especially when you’re ready to kick winter to the curb for good.
