How did you all do on Cyber Monday? Did you knock out all your shopping? If so, I’m over here giving you a round of applause. Full standing ovation for all of you that used the 50 Under $50 gift guide to take care of it all. As a side note, while most of those items were marked down even more on Monday, the majority are under $50 no matter what, so feel free to revisit that post if you run into a gift-giving writer’s block.
With the presents starting to get placed under the tree, it means it’s also holiday party time. I love a holiday party. Festive cocktails, gorgeous decorations, friends, fun and all of the end-of-the-year good vibes. But one thing that always throws me into a panic is the ‘what to wear’ anxiety. Is it formal? Laid-back? Somewhere in between? The good news at the holidays is that being overdressed is just being festive and I’m all here for that.
And while I love a good party dress, I usually end up going with a super festive top paired with black skinny pants (these Spanx ones are the real deal) or leather leggings (this is still one of my favorite holiday looks). I feel like separates give you more opportunity to mix-and-match to switch up the look. Plus, if a last-minute invite comes up, you can just throw it on with dark denim, sparkly earrings and go!
When I saw this polka dot top in Blair Eadie’s Atlantic-Pacific x Halogen collection, I knew I had to have it. My friend Courtney and I both ended up getting it, so hopefully we don’t show up at the same holiday shin-dog wearing it. Unfortunately it’s sold out but since Blair is the queen of a party top, I pulled a couple other ones from her holiday collection. And since I want you to be prepared no matter what the holiday party scene throws your way, I’ve rounded up a bunch in lace, glitter and of course polka dot – including this J.Crew one that is almost identical to the one I’m wearing.
