Spring Break is over and the race to Derby is on!
Before we get into the details of this look, did you all survive Spring Break? I’m writing this from somewhere on I-75 coming back from Disney World. My legs haven’t been this sore in a long time and my bank account is feeling the effects of the mouse but we had a really great time. They always say it’s fun to see it through your kids eyes but my kids had some reactions I wasn’t quite expecting. No joke, Reese was STARSTRUCK by the princesses. She’d stand a few feet away from them with her hands balled up by her face with an expression that was somewhere between excitement, anxiety and pure joy.
Every time we’d meet a new one, I’d think she would get it together but she didn’t. It was pretty hilarious. She’s currently wearing her Princess Anna costume with Minnie flip-flops, so you know she’s committed to the look. Not sure how it’s going to go when I tell her she can’t wear this get-up to school on Tuesday.
Okay on to Derby… there’s no looking back now. And good news for anyone needing some finishing touches to their look, I’m co-hosting an event with Off Broadway Shoes this Saturday, April 14th from 11 – 2 pm with the Derby Princesses. Note to self: up your hair and make-up game for Saturday.
And you guys, prepare to want about 10 pairs of shoes if you come. I stopped in last week to pick out a couple things and had a tough time narrowing down my picks to two. These gingham heels were my far and away favorite. There were only a couple pairs left and I may have done a happy dance when I saw they still had them in my size.
This outfit was basically built around these shoes and would be perfect for an outdoor box at the track. This dress is super light-weight, really comfortable and not in the least bit see-through (so key for a white dress). It runs a little big, so I would suggest sizing down. And this fascinator is another Off Broadway Shoes find. They have a ton of simple fascinators in a wide range of colors so you can grab one and then doctor it up if you want.
Or if you want to go the custom route, the event will feature a C.K Nobles Trunk Show. So you can grab a one-of-a-kind piece for yourself. I’ve included all the details below. Would love to see you all there!
And don’t forget, the Derby Shop is live and I am adding dresses and fascinators all the time! Make sure to swing by if you need a little dress inspiration.
