Kentucky Derby Style: Dark Roses

Apr 24, 2015

One week away. Can you believe it? I can and can’t. Lord knows that the Derby chaos set in a couple weeks ago but it also kind of feels like it snuck up on me. It’s the final countdown. Time to get your plans, hats and outfits in order. Oh and if you need help getting race day ready (read: hair and makeup), call today’s model Shannon at her blow out bar and all around get ya ready spot Primp Salon.

When it comes to your dress, if you’re in Louisville – I can definitely recommend hitting up the local boutiques. They are getting in new gear ALL. THE. TIME. Seriously, I know from experience. I was lucky enough to have popped in to Clodhoppers as they unloaded a huge shipment. I may or may not have snuck out with this (and it was the only one they got!). They had SO much good stuff. So stop in there (tell ’em I sent you) or hop into Circe, Rhodes, Blush, Collections or Dress & Dwell where today’s dark floral strapless stunner is from.

This dress photographed beautifully but was even cuter in person. For those perfectly petite gals, this would be a great gala dress but would be equally gorgeous for the Turf Club or Jockey Club Suites. You may think you have to go bright and preppy for Derby but I think a dress like this makes a bold, beautiful statement for the day. I loved it so much that I tried to squeeze in to it to no avail. I really wanted to fit in to it for the Hermitage Grand Gala but alas, the hunt for what to wear to that continues.
