Outfit: Game Day Made Easy

Sep 12, 2013

It’s only two days away. The biggest game in the Commonwealth otherwise know as the Battle of the Bluegrass. As a die hard Kentucky fan, I’ll be cheering my heart out for the blue & white despite the fact that they are underdogs in the truest sense of the word. We’ll be a house divided (actually we split up to actually watch the game – better for all parties involved), with Drew cheering on the Cards.

With only a couple days left to go, everyone is nailing down the perfect game day attire in the right color. I’ve been known to attend my fair share of Cardinals games (hey, they serve beer! and i didn’t grow up surrounded by the rivalry) but I’m not always jazzed up to do the full red and black outfit. And when it comes to UK, it’s hard to find non-branded apparel (and UK’s gear is a little weak lately – can we step that up?) in the right color.

I don’t necessarily get a lot of people asking me random fashion questions but one I do get somewhat frequently is what to wear on game day. I’m all about a team tee when the occasion is right (read: when it’s a million degrees or when it’s super cold and you rock that hoodie/pull-over) and I’m all about rocking a full outfit in team colors (see my inspiration from last year here, I even rock team colors to workwhen the feeling strikes me). But for the more casual fan or simple gal, I’ve got the solution for you – just add the perfect accessory.

These necklaces (limited edition!) by Kluster Jewelry are the easiest way to make any look game day ready. The owner Laura (a Louisville native!) designs the handmade line of gemstones in a ton of colors so you can easily find your team colors. She’s also got a collegiate section on her site now, so most fans can just click on their team and find all kinds of options in the right color!

And since my tan has faded a little since pool season is now behind us, I ran in and got a VersaSpa spray at Sun Tan City earlier this week to help keep my color a little longer. Rather than going with my normal medium/clear, I just went for light/clear which gave me just a touch of color to keep my tan going.

With the game on Saturday, you can stop in today and have the perfect amount of color for the game. This week it’s Free Tan Week too so there’s no excuse not to go.

Sun Tan City can add glow to any of your fall favorites. Stop by one of our more than 225 locations during free tan week, September 9 -15th, and let yourself shine. Offer only valid on days indicated. Restrictions may apply.

    Great post Danielle!
I’m a fan of the casual game day attire as well rather than being decked out in team apparel. So much so that it inspired my “Friday Five” post last week: http://wp.me/p32SmO-88

May the best team win this weekend 🙂 (go cards!)

Oooh I really like the way you did your nails – you should hurry and trade out the red for blue though!
