Outfit Post: Black and Tan

Twelve inches of snow in March. Yup, that just happened.

Right when I thought we might be able to put winter behind us, we’re getting one last heaping scoop of winter snow from Mother Nature. Thankfully I took pictures Monday before I’d be standing up to almost my knees in snow. That’s a fact. I took Drew sledding (if you can call it that) this morning and the snow was intense. Needless to say, what I’m actually wearing today involves two layers of pants and about four layers on top. It was really fun to be out and about though when the streets were still empty and the snow wasn’t that gross gray slush yet. Sledding was pretty much a failure but Cherokee Park was looking very pretty all dressed in white.

But enough of that and back to the business at hand. I wore this to work on Monday.  After snagging these flat brown boots on super sale, I’ve worn them nonstop which has encouraged a lot of black and tan/brown mixing. I know it’s supposed to be a fashion crime but I’m okay with breaking the rules on this one.

I went a little casual for a Monday at work without meetings (hallelujah) but the black pants dressed it up enough. I used to think the Minnie pant was my favorite basic from J.Crew but after buying these Dannie pants in black and blue, I’m starting to change my tune (beware though, they oddly enough zip up the back which can be tricky at first). I’ve worn them dressy to work and casual with sneakers or boots for the weekends. Love them with a blazer or just a plain old t-shirt. They’re on sale now too so there’s that. And since you’re probably stuck inside all day why not do a little online shopping. Winters gotta end soon, right? RIGHT?

Black ‘Dannie’ Pants: J.Crew; Stripe Blouse: Old Navy (old – seen before here; similar here); Flats Brown Boots: Banana Republic (obsessed with these AND they’re on sale); Bag: c/o Sole Society; Belt: J.Crew (old)

  2. Folks were sledding behind my house in Tyler Park, and it looked a little more intense/cold than I could get on board with.
