The Easiest Way to a Great Hair Day

Mar 30, 2019

One of my favorite things about having this blog is getting to work with brands I’ve loved my entire life. And today I’m getting to share a new product from my #1 OG shampoo + conditioner brand – Pantene.

I’ve been using Pantene for as long as I can remember. It’s been, at least, since middle school. My hair is super thick, a more accurate way to describe it is dense. The hair itself isn’t thick but I have an absurd amount of hair. Plus, I’ve kept it long pretty much the majority of my life. With long, thick hair – conditioner is life. Anytime I tried something different, from drugstore brands to professional brands, I ALWAYS, always go back to Pantene. It’s legit the only conditioner I can count on to leave my hair tangle-free and moisturized (but not TOO greasy).

But we’re not chatting about their conditioner today (although I could go on…), instead I got the chance to try out one of their newest products, the Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots. The formula is imported from Brazil and we all know how gorgeous Brazilian women’s hair looks. The product is “their most potent ever” and contains a blend of Pro-Vitamin B5, strengthening lipids and natural glycerin that targets hair damage. These small but mighty hair masks hit shelves in January with the goal of helping repair hair with extensive damage. Um, yes please.

Lately, almost every morning when I wake up, the last three or four inches of my hair are a frizzy mess. Years, dare I say decades, of color treating are probably to blame. That and heat styling have taken a toll on it. At my last hair appointment, I went back to my natural hair color with the hopes of slowing down the amount of color treatments I do per year. But that alone isn’t going to help get my hair back to its slicky, smooth glory.

These Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots get me pretty darn close to hair perfection though. And it’s almost too easy to be true. Basically, you just substitute your normal conditioner for the Intense Rescue Shots. Once a week, you shampoo with your normal product then apply the Intense Rescue Shots to your hair – root-to-tip – focusing on the areas where you see the most damage. You don’t have to worry about over-doing it since the shots are intended for a one-time use. Leave it on for 30 seconds and then rinse for 30 seconds (they tell you to make sure not to over-rinse).

Boom! That’s it.

After trying it out, I noticed a big difference in my hair, especially the ends. After towel drying, they didn’t feel tough or dry. I went ahead and used my normal combination of styling products and then blew-out my hair. It had that same bounce and silky feeling that you get after a salon blow-out. It was also much easier to curl my hair since my hair wasn’t tangled at the ends. The sections all split apart really smoothly, making for a much easier styling process.

We’re heading to the beach today for Spring Break and I’ve thrown a couple in my suitcase. After a few days in the sun and swimming in the pool, my hair gets super dry and can start to feel brittle. I made sure to pack a couple so I can break it out after the sun, sand, salt and chlorine take a toll on my hair. Since they’re so small, it’s easy to just toss into your toiletries bag. Planning on treating myself before one of our last night’s out and already excited for a great hair day.
