With a more laid-back, casual work dress code, I’ve slacked on my high-heel game. Since I try to schedule client meetings on the same one or two days a week, I tend to only really “dress up” for work a few times a week. Otherwise it’s dark denim, comfy tees with a blazer/jacket on top and booties. Always booties these days.
When I do go to throw on heels, I’ve been relying heavily on this green pair (worn in post on post on post) and basic black pumps. With the holidays and thus holiday party season, I’m looking to add a new pair or two to my rotation. Since I don’t wear them too often and I want them to stand out from the other basic b**ches in my closet, I want to go for something with a little pizazz. I’ve narrowed it down to four groups – blue suede (Elvis approved), embellished black d’orsay pumps, a bright red pair or a bold animal print. Oh and possibly a gold pair. Those are especially holly jolly.
I want something that’s going to work for the long run too. Something that I can wear after we’ve all packed up the Christmas decorations but that will give any holiday look a little something extra. I don’t mind spending a tiny bit more on a quality pair of pumps. Mostly because when you’re standing in something for a long time you want them to be comfortable and let’s all face it – the cheaper the shoe, the less comfortable it is in the long run.
Side note: one time I wore a pair of Forever 21 boots for a day of meetings in Chicago (aka lots of walking) and my feet have never hurt so bad in my life. I seriously considered throwing them in the river and going barefoot. It was mizz.
Extra bonus: a bunch of the options below are on sale! huzzah!
I do the same type of scheduling for my meetings too. In fact, I have a last minute one scheduled for tomorrow and it’s thrown me off my game a bit for getting dressed.
I wear booties almost daily right now too, but I do love a gorgeous pair of pumps. I love these picks for holiday!

Something About That
I have been LIVING in booties lately but still have my go-to heels for the holidays too. Check out Madewell’s Mira heel. They are super comfy and have a unique cut.
