What can I say about Derby that hasn’t already been said? Not much other than the week leading up to the big race was beautiful and Derby day was cold and rainy. But a little rain never stopped the party (or the 150K+ people) and it certainly didn’t stop me from enjoying the track (although the rain did cause us to pack it up early for a cab ride home to watch the main event in pjs – sorry for partying).
Since the rain may have been a damper on some looks, most of my pics and submissions are from Oaks!
Here’s a little recap of what I was up to this week and some fun snaps from friends and readers.
If you still want to submit a pic, send it over to danielle@louwhatwear.com and I’ll try to post it!
Kicking the week off on Tuesday with a day at the track with the work crew.
Floral Dress: ASOS; Elizabeth’s Dress: Nanette Lepore Keeping things rolling on Wednesday with Beth and the America’s Best Racing crew.
Oaks Day with Carolyn Moore and Caitlin Brey
Thanks to Britni at headCandi for my Oaks fascinator and to the gals at Blink for their help picking out a dress!
Good looking guys in pink. Clayton Moore, Grant Jones and Drew
Julie and Chris Dayton
Loved the black and white with a pop of pink. It also looks like the blue shirt/pink tie combo was the go-to for guys.
The always lovely Hadley Hartz and Casner Wheelock .
I always love bumping into Hadley. 1. She always looks amazing and effortlessly put together and 2. Because she has got to be the friendliest gal in Louisville.
Ann Speltz and Marie.
Obsessed with both of their earrings and simple but so chic looks.
Erica, Kelly Vey and Whitney
Pretty Girls + Hats on hats on hats
LeeAnn Burfict and Megan Harned
Love the prints on both dresses but c’mon we know it’s all about the hats with these looks!
Grant Jones and Kelly Vey
I may be a little biased but my bestie and her man are one good looking pair.
Drew, Alex and Mallory Trogdlen.
You can’t really see it in all its glory here but Mal’s fascinator was so fun – especially loved the bird cage veil.
Jon and Lisa Sonheim, John Receveur and Matt McCall
Lisa – whenever you’re tired of that dress, you can just send it down from DC to me.
One stylish crew enjoying the view from the Jockey Club.
Love the range of colors and how Lee went with yellow. I think the color made it into my Derby dress picks a million times so I was excited to see her in it!
Adrea
Looking fab in a cobalt blue peplum number + headCandi fascinator.
Liza Koch & Davis Tyler
I’m a big fan of guys in hat (obviously, see pics of Drew) so I love that Davis added a hat to his perfectly Southern look.
Lindsay Koch, Liza & Jady Koch
When you’re rocking a seriously fun hat, you let it shine. Simple sheaths + big hats.
And you may not know it, but I love me some madras.
Corey and Liz Richter at their first Oaks.
Such a fun retro look. Those glasses are awesome.
Joey Wagner (third from left) and some of his dapper friends walking the Derby red carpet.
Nancy Boatman looking amazing in pink and blue!
Steve and Courtney Nassau looking dapper and darling at a Derby party.
Megan Kute, Courtney Nassau, Lacey Lashbrook and Julie Dayton
Southern Belles at a post Derby Gala.
Nothing better than closing out a Derby post than with a random celebrity pic with Joey Fatone.
Thanks so much to Katie for sending this in!
So happy I ran into you! I LOVE that dress you had on!
Friend is Megan Harned- hue fascinator is by Glitz by Gin in Middletown. (I made my own!) both dresses from Blush.

You did some fab style spotting! Love all of the Oaks and Derby looks!
