Outfit Post: Bloggers Who Budget – Pastels

Clearly I’m on a pastel kick right now. Okay but today’s wasn’t intentionally planned to piggy-back on my Charleston trip. It just ended up happening that way.

I’m excited to be hopping in to the Bloggers Who Budget series with some of my favorite bloggers. See each month the gals hunt down on trend items that won’t kill your budget. While Maria {The Style Letters} sits out a few months to welcome her new babe, I’m subbing in and helping find looks for less. This month’s challenge was pastels and I got really luck with a few great finds at Gap. These girlfriend jeans are the perfect mix of blue and white. They’re also really soft and super comfortable. Most importantly for this girl of an odd height – they hit at just the right spot. They’re already under $75 but with a 40% off sale last week (there’s probably another one coming soon), I scored them plus this easy tank and scarf all under budget. read more

Inspiration: A Colorful Road Trip to Charleston x Bend the Rules

When it came to taking another road trip to Charleston, I was kind of spent. Did I really want to spend another 9+ hours in the car (times two)? Wasn’t it going to be expensive? Most importantly, can I get off work again? In the end, the lure of the beach, celebrating good friends and a kid-free getaway won me over.

Seriously, a road trip may be one of the only times Drew and I can sit in the car and have a conversation that doesn’t involve answering a hundred and one questions from the master inquisitor also known as our son. read more

Derby Dress of the Day: For the Jockey Club Suites

I was going to throw our a little polka dot number for today’s dress but then I popped on Facebook and saw that one of my favorite local boutiques, Blink, is now carrying Paper Crown by Lauren Conrad. So with 31 days until Derby, I thought I’d share a couple Paper Crown beauties for your Derby dressing happiness and better yet, you can try the lovely on the left locally if you stop into Blink.

I picked both of these for the Jockey Club suites because I don’t recommend going strapless unless you have a “home base” to hang at all day (you know, somewhere to leave your stuff and/or sit down). Just too much adjusting with too much to keep track of if you’re going to be walking around all day. The dress on the right could work for other areas but I’d want to pair it with a giant, bright hat and I think that’s better suited for areas where you won’t be as crowded around all day. read more
