The Perfect Basic Tee

Jun 15, 2020

I am a creature of habit.

As much as I love trying new things and venturing outside of my comfort zone, I thrive in routine and love when I find something that fits perfectly into it. One thing I’ve done in the last year to create more of a routine, is simplifying my closet. Honestly, the amount of black and white surprises me sometimes since I really do love color. But it’s become easier to stick with the basics when I need to get going quickly.

A good t-shirt, denim and simple jewelry and I’m set. Sometimes I find myself getting a little bored with it but then I try on something else and immediately go back to the more basic outfit.

Usually that outfit involves a t-shirt, specifically these ones from Amazon that are so freaking good. I originally ordered a long-sleeve one after being influenced on Instagram. I fell in love and immediately ordered two short-sleeve ones and another long-sleeve. They’re the softest cotton, thick enough to not be see-through or feel cheap but thin enough to be comfortable and flattering. The fit is a little boxy/loose but not oversized. The biggest up-side, they hold up in the wash really well. I wear mine ALL THE TIME and they don’t get misshapen or threadbare.

One quick note on the tees, you may want to size down if you’re not a fan of a boxy fit. Also, my tip is to put them in your cart and then wait for the price to drop to like $18. I usually just leave one in my cart and check the price whenever I order something random off Amazon. The long-sleeve ones are on sale right now so may grab one or two more (they are so good for lounging).

And a little detail on my gold necklace since I get a few comments/questions on it. It’s from AU-Rate, I love it and they have the best simple gold jewelry (especially necklaces). It’s really beautiful quality but doesn’t cost a fortune – plus you can get a lot of their pieces personalized.

I live in basic tees and gold necklaces and I find myeself definitely falling into the routine of wearing them often. My grandma gave me a necklace with a little garnet heart on a gold chain and from time to time I will wear it to make my outfit.
