Turning Snacks into Support for Schools Back to School with Box Tops

Aug 13, 2021

This post has been sponsored by Box Tops™. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Why does summer always go by fast? I cannot believe the start of the school year is only a couple days away. I say this every year but there was so much we wanted to do that we didn’t get to cross off our summer bucket list. That being said, it’s been an amazing couple months… just not quite ready for the back to school rush.

But here it is, so I’m attempted to get ahead of things with some solid prep work.  Especially now that Drew, Reese and Blake are all officially in the same school together (Blake was in Pre-K last year so it wasn’t technically the same). It makes it so much easier having them all together and makes it easy for us to throw all of our support behind one school and their team of dedicated teachers.

Let me be honest with you all. I’m not the mom that’s able to be a room mom. I can only volunteer to be at the school a handful of times a year and no one wants me helping with arts and crafts. But ever since Drew started in kindergarten and we got the note about a school-wide Box Top for Education™ collection competition, we’ve been clipping Box Tops. It’s honestly the easiest way to support the school. For years, I’ve clipped the little cardboard corners off of our snacks and various groceries, hoarded them away in a plastic baggie, ready to send in a few times a year.

Those little clippings translate to money for our school that funds tools for the classrooms and all I had to do was try to keep up with my kids’ never ending need for snacks to help contribute.

But now, with the Box Tops for Education App, there is no need for clipping! And right now it is even easier to earn for your school with a special offer at Costco: Now through September 30th, you can earn 10 Bonus Box Tops when you purchase any participating Box Tops product at Costco and scan your receipt with the Box Tops app. To make things even better, 5,000 Costco Members have a chance to win 100 Bonus Box Tops when they scan their qualifying receipt!

So after cleaning out Costco of all their General Mills snacks (most of which are Box Tops participating products), I’m able to just scan my receipt through the Box Tops app. We renewed our Costco membership last year after a couple years away and it’s made keeping up with the grocery madness so much easier. I never cease to be amazed at how quickly my kids run through food – they crush Cinnamon Toast Crunch™ morning, noon and night – so it’s at least extended my time between shopping trips.

I took the crew with me on our last trip and let them pick out some of their snacks so we can be ready for the morning madness of eating breakfast and making lunches every morning before school. Their picks: Annie’s Extra Cheddar Cheesy Smiles and Nature Valley™ Oat & Honey Crunchy Bars for lunch snacks and Honey Nut Cheerios and Nature Valley Almond Butter Biscuit Bars for breakfast.

Once we got home, I made sure to scan our receipt using the Box Tops for Education app to ensure our school reaps the benefits of our many grocery trips. Plus, there are a ton of specially marked products at Costco that give you an extra chance to win rewards for your school.

*For each participating BTFE product purchased at Costco between 7/10/21-9/30/21, you can earn 10 Bonus Box Tops for your BTFE-eligible enrolled school. To redeem, your eligible receipt must be scanned in the App within 14 DAYS of your BTFE product purchase at Costco. See www.BTFE.com for App Terms of Service, Official Program Rules, and Privacy Policy. Standard data rates may apply.
