Outfit Post: Shorted

Oh hey Monday.

Yeah I’m dragging a little after a fun weekend spent mostly chasing Reese around the pool while trying to keep D3 from buying every popsicle in the snack bar. Also took a quick spin to Owensboro to celebrate my brother-in-law Alex and his bride-to-be Mallory for their last shower before the wedding in two short weeks. Very excited about that one! You’re probably well aware of these facts if you’re following me on Snapchat (@louwhatwear) – it’s mostly lots of kiddos, pool pics and the occasional stream of consciousness video but I’m traveling to Charleston (again! third and final trip of the year) this weekend for another wedding so you’ll want to follow along for that fun.

This outfit is similar to what you’re gonna find on my Snapchat – a lot of random things that go together. Mixed up some prints, threw on this great LOFT blazer to tie it all together and of course, paired it with sneakers. I know, I need a new pair of Supergas because this pair may be getting a little worn down.

In other random news, I know I’ve been a little slacking in the blogging lately. It was a sprint to get the new site designed and then I felt like I needed to take a little breather. This week may be another one that’s out of sorts but I’m working on launching some new content ideas – hoping to incorporate more Louisville back into the blog. With all the traveling, work commitments, trying (unsuccessfully) to sell our house and keep track of the kids, I’ve been a little overextended. But July looks like it’s going to be a lot less busy so the plan is to work on wrapping my head around these ideas. Is there anything you’d like to see more of? I’m also interested in getting some contributors on the Louisville front – so if you’re interested, drop me a line (danielle@louwhatwear.com).

Enough blabbering for now. Oh and Bachelorette tonight (Nick returns which is a combo of gross/great TV) – so recap coming atcha tomorrow!

Outfit Post: Pineapple

Pineapples are having quite the little party for themselves right now huh? No longer relegated to umbrellas in daiquiris, pineapples are all over the place including this skirt that I’m pretty obsessed with right now. So comfortable and soft, flirty and fun but not too short and best of all, under $20 right now. See you can be a little trendy when you find something that’s the perfect combination of fun and affordable.

Someone who’s not having a little party for themselves right now is me since now I’m trying to catch up with life and all the other work that got pushed to the back these last few weeks. Add to that a bit of a sleepless night from a small human with an ear ache and this Cinco de Mayo could use a pick me up. No complaints though. The weather is beautiful and I’m looking forward to spending some time outside later this afternoon, possibly with a cocktail with a pineapple on top.

Outfit Post + Yay! It’s a Giveaway: Working It with Well-Kept

Monday Monday. After a solid weekend (the perfect mix of low-key and fun), I’m back to work for what is promising to be a hectic week (lots and lots of client events going on). That being said, I’m starting things over here off with a bit of a bang with a nice little giveaway for you all from Well-Kept – more on that in a minute.

When I’m looking at a busy day (after what will inevitably be a crazy morning trying to make it out of the house in one piece), I try and stick with a pretty basic uniform: skinny pants + easy, practical and polished top + wedges. This outfit is all of those things with a little twist on my normal get up. The cropped top (certainly no skin showing for me, at least not yet) isn’t something I normally gravitate to since I have a longer than normal torso. So a crop top can throw my proportions all out of whack. The looser, boxier shape of this one though hits at just the right spot and pairs well with the more fitted pants. It’s also the perfect weight for this not quite summer/not quite fall weather. So if you ever see me coming or going from work, you’ll more than likely see me in something like this.

Another thing you’ll see me dragging along is a bag packed to the gills with my work crap. Computer, multiple notebooks, phones (don’t ask me why I have two), my camera (try to keep it with me all the time) and possibly an iPad (that gets used to watch Disney Junior way more than to do actual work). With all those screens and the high likelihood that there is so form of snack debris on the inside of my bag, a pack of Well-Kept wipes comes in crazy handy.

I first got my hands on a pack a year or so ago to try and since then I’ve kept them in my desk drawer for those days when I eat lunch at my desk (yeah I know it’s kind of gross) or I notice some sort of impenetrable gunk on my phone. My poor iPad takes the worst of it and needs to have the jelly wiped off it on a regular basis.

The good folks at Well-Kept want you to enjoy not only a gunk-free screen but also a little shopping spree on them. So scroll all the way down to check out how I’ve teamed up with some of my favorite blogger pals (all my favorites are on board) to give you a chance to win a year’s supply of Well-Kept wipes + a $200 American Express gift card.

Outfit Post: All of the Brights

If you’ve been reading the past few weeks (rather than just skipping past my blabbering to the pictures… which you’ve probably already done if that’s you), you’ve heard me talking about trying to curb my spending to save up for our bathroom remodel.

I’ve stayed pretty strong, sneaking in the purchase of a seriously on sale dress but leaving behind some other pieces that were calling my name. It’s all about sticking to my budget and so far, so good. You’re probably thinking, what the what does this have to do with today’s post. Well, it explains why all of the items in this post are oldies but goodies from the back of my closet.

I’ve been trying to clean out and move around items in my closet – bringing some things in the back to the forefront to get them back into the rotation. This look includes three {seriously bright} items that have been spotted at least once before.

Oh and that big band-aid, it’s covering up a nasty leg injury I got while being a total idiot playing kickball. To clarify, not an idiot for playing kickball (love me some kickball)  but for sliding (not sure that’s really an accurate description for the action) into third base when the game was basically lost. Just in case you were wondering. If you’re not, carry on.
