9 Basics to Add to Your Fall Wardrobe

Aug 25, 2017

Has anyone else had a killer of a week? It’s been a busy one with work and no one is happier that it’s Friday than me. Okay, clearly that’s not true but I will be thoroughly enjoying a cocktail at quitting time.

Since I’m kind of procrastinating on getting my work done by aimlessly browsing fall clothes and looking for the perfect pair of ripped denim, I thought I’d round up a few favorites that make great workhorses in your closet. Each of these pieces can be styled up a couple ways, layered on, dressed up, dressed down, etc. I’m all about buying pieces that give you lots of options and these all fit the bill.

Not that I’m against a few statement pieces but I’d rather do a standout pair of earrings or a bold lip than go all in on a top or dress. I just feel like you get a lot more wear out of basics that can be mix and matched than with a bold piece that might only get a couple wears. You know?

BB Dakota ‘Jack’ Utility Jacket (Shop BB Dakota Jackets Here) | Rails Plaid Dress
Leith Bell Sleeved Sweater (Under $60! – Shop More Bell Sleeve Sweaters Here
Tie Sleeve Blouse | J.Crew Hoops + Tassel Earrings (Under $30)
Jeffrey Campbell Oxfords (Shop Oxfords Here
Paige Black Skinny Jeans (More Black Denim Options
Adidas Gazelle Sneakers | Madewell Tote

So here’s a few ways I’d mix and match these:

* Utility Jacket + Plaid Dress + Sneakers
* Blouse + Black Denim + Oxfords
* Sweater + Black Denim + Sneakers then swap out sneakers for black heels and add the earrings.

Add in a pair of great basic jeans (that everyone has in their closet) and a couple simple tees you’ve got a whole other round of looks. Honestly, I want throw all of these in my shopping cart and hit buy right now but my budget won’t quite allow it so I’m thinking of grabbing the jacket and sweater… and maybe the dress.
