Life Lately + Work Pants That Feel Like Sweatpants

Sep 24, 2018

I think it’s time to build an ark. It’s rained almost non-stop since Friday and as much as I love a rainy day, the forecast calling for three more days of this is too much.

We went to Bourbon & Beyond this weekend and I don’t think I’ve ever seen more mud in my life… and that’s including some Derby Day monsoons in the infield. You guys, it was a mess. We found a mildly mud-free spot to watch the acts (Sheryl Crow, David Byrne, Lenny Kravitz and heart be still, John Mayer) but to get anywhere else was a mission. Thankfully none of our crew took a spill in the mud but I’ll credit that to our sensible footwear choice of rain boots and duck boots (although I think mine are goners now, i’m afraid to even start trying to clean off all the mud). I was saying all the prayers for people in like tevas and regular shoes. I felt so bad for all the vendors who had all these elaborate set-ups with furniture and fun lighting because that all went to s**t quick. But mud aside, the show was awesome. Just wish the weather wasn’t as crazy.

This weekend was super jam packed. On Friday night, I got to meet Reese Witherspoon (all the heart eyes) at her Whiskey in a Teacup book tour down at The Kentucky Center. To say I was excited is an understatement. I mean look at how big of a nerd I look in our pic together. I was cheesing SO HARD. She was so sweet and even more adorable in person. I told her about having a daughter named Reese and she at least pretended to care although I am sure I am like the one millionth person to tell her that.

Afterwards, I took a 180 degree turn from ladylike tea talk to go check out Asylum Haunted Scream Park. They are one of our clients at Lemonade, along with a few other haunts as part of an initiative called Scary, Good, Fun.,  so Lynsey and I went to check it out before the season got into full swing. To say we had fun was an understatement. I know a lot of people don’t like getting scared but this was so fun. The scares were good but the kind where you start laughing at yourself because you just jumped out of your pants. At this one you can also get in a school bus and shoot zombies with a paintball gun and play laser tag against a bunch of crazy clowns. They also have two escape rooms along with the traditional haunted house style experience (theirs are outside though). I honestly didn’t think I’d have as much fun as we did since I haven’t hit up a haunt since college. Now I’m planning on making it a regular Halloween tradition. I’m not just saying this because they are a work client, it was SUCH a good time. Like laughed a ton, told everyone about how much fun it was afterwards, kind of time. If you’d be interested in going, drop me a note or message me on Instagram and I can see about getting a promo code for you!

On to the outfit really quick. I am on a BIG Athleta kick recently especially since I can dress more casually when I don’t have meetings during the week. These herringbone leggings/pants are great because while they look like a traditional work pants but feel like sweatpants. I went more casual with this look but you could easily pair them with booties or flats and a blouse for a dinner with friends or a casual day at the office. Love ’em so much and they’re under $100.

And I know I’ve talked ad nausem about this bag but I love it so much and it gets ALL the compliments. I’m such a basic b when I respond, “It’s from Target” with a kind of self-satisfied look at my score. If you’re one of those people that needs a bag that can hold a family of five, this is the one. You won’t be bummed out if it gets ruined in a few months because it was only $38. And just an FYI – it comes in brown too.
