Grab Your Pom-Poms and Put in that Bow! Mat Talk Cheer Brunch This Sunday at the Moxy!

Feb 4, 2020

It’s happening!

Our collective obsession with Cheer is spilling over from our TVs and phones to a real life event focused on all things Cheer! Thanks to the awesome team at the new Moxy Hotel, we’re hosting a Cheer-themed brunch and panel discussion to talk all about the show, Navarro and the sport in general.

If the amount of DMs I’ve received is any indication, we all have LOTS of questions and a strong amount of opinions. So many of us never cheered a day and are fully obsessed. ‘On mat’ is now part of our general lexicon and we all have strong feelings about Morgan, Lexi, Gabi, Ladarius and Jerry. Plus we all want to know more about the guy with the handlebar mustache who loves coming back to relive his glory days at Navarro.  As much as I love the convos I’ve had with so many of you on IG, I really wanted to bring it into the real world to give us a space to drink some margaritas and get some solid answers. That’s why I’m bringing along a few VERY knowledgeable friends to share an inside look at the sport. Plus, it’s the perfect excuse for a girls day out.

I’ll be joined by this badass group of cheerleaders who will answer all the questions and spill all the tea.

  • Nikki Wagner: Former UofL and Navarro Cheerleader (yes, THAT Navarro) and current Cheer-mom.
  • Hannah Powell: Former UofL Cheerleader. She just graduated a couple years ago so she’s familiar with the current team and knew Jerry!
  • Shannon Kessler + Dan Kessler: Shannon is a former cheerleader and her husband Dan is one of the founders of the JAM Brands, which runs cheerleading and dance competitions throughout the world and merged with Varsity Sports in 2015.

The event will be this Sunday, February 9th from 12 – 2 pm at the Moxy Hotel (100 W. Washington Street). No reservations are required and it’s going to be a fun, low-key event with drinks galore and breakfast tacos + burritos from Zombie Taco. That being said, we encourage everyone to dress in your cheer best. Bows, high ponytails and crystals will be rewarded with fun giveaways and a Grand Champion winner.

House of K will be giving the champion a year of earrings + we’re working on some other fun prizes. Grab your girlfriends and relive your cheer glory days or just your Netflix binge sesh with us!
