Okay first off, I am the worst. No really, the worst. The last couple of weeks I have let the blog fall by the wayside. That whole going back to work thing has been a little more stressful than I expected and by a little, I mean a lot. I may have bit off a little more than I could chew with two trips this month too. Makes me think of that quote, “You can have it all just not all at once.” The good part is that I have a lot of fun content and post ideas for days – I just have to figure out some time to get it all up over here. So bear with me while I share the last of my Charleston trip – it was just too pretty not to share. Oh and I may sneak in a little The Blog Societies recap, maybe on the weekend so you can gloss over it if you’re not into all that.
If there’s something I’m into though, it’s game days (woo hoo football season!) and stripes. Other than the three F’s – family, friends and food – they round out my top five favorite things. I’ve talked a lot about game day gear over here (for example, here and here) and it usually involves finding an outfit that shows off team colors without looking like I marched out of the college bookstore or NFL team shop (granted, I do love a jersey for Dolphins games – I think it’s an NFL thing, I can’t help it). So when a friend (thanks Julie!) recently introduced me to Jane Hudson, a new line aimed at making game days a little more stylish, I was all in.
I was immediately sold on the stripes. Gah, I love me some stripes. The silhouettes are simple, chic and easy for day-to-day wear. Better yet, they were in the right colors – you know, the right shade of blue for Kentucky games or the not too dark shade of red for Louisville games. When I got this Dillon dress, I was impressed with the weight of the fabric and the cut. These types of dresses can be notoriously flimsy or cheap feeling – not so with Jane Hudson. The fabric is thick enough to keep your bra + unders from showing through (this is a thing, even if you want to act like it’s not a thing) but it’s the high-quality fabric that keeps you from feeling all sweaty and swampy. My tip though if you order, size down – at least on the swingy dresses.
With college football kicking off this weekend (cannot wait) and temperatures not getting lower anytime soon you’re going to want to check out the Betty since it comes in a ton of color combos – love the black + red for Cards, Georgia and South Carolina fans. Plus the royal blue is spot on for Kentucky gals. There’s also a maroon and black (Roll Tide), maroon and gold (for all you FSU gals), royal blue and orange (for the Florida Gator fans) and a bunch more. Sadly no green and orange for me to rep my Miami Hurricanes – may need to put in a special request!
My gal Tiffany is a Georgia fan so she went with the Jennings in black. Just add some red accessories and you’re ready. Quick side note, make sure to head over and check out Tiffany’s blog – she’s smart, funny and super down-to-earth plus she has the cutest little boy and amazing style.
