Shipped, Sealed, Delivered – I’m Yours. * Trying Out the New Venus Direct Subscription Service

Jan 30, 2019

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Gillette Venus. The opinions and text are all mine.

“I’m your Venus, I’m your fire… “

Don’t act like you don’t remember that commercial.

I can totally remember when it came out and can just as vividly remember when I got my first Venus razor. Until then, I’d been using crappy disposable razors, cutting my knees just about every single time I shaved. Seriously, I still have a little scar on my ankle from an early shaving mishap.

Then that Venus razor came on the scene and I felt like I’d upgraded to the Cadillac of razors. I was a swimmer in high school, so we did the routine where you stop shaving for a month or two (it was rough) and then shave right before the big meet. I remember breaking out my pink Venus for that and feeling like a new woman.

But in all honesty, I haven’t thought much about the razor buying process much since. Well just not until I realize I’ve been using the same one for WAY too long and desperately need a replacement.

That was until I got a note from the Gillette team about their new Venus Direct program. You all know that I am a sucker for a delivery service. Anything that eliminates a trip to the store with three unruly small humans in tow is a win in my book. Even better though is it’s a brand I already know, use and trust. So, there’s none of the trial and error that can go along with trying something new.

Signing up is super easy and unlike grabbing one at the store, you can customize just about everything. I’m a pretty plain and simple girl when it comes to shaving but if you’re into the fancy blades with the Comfortglide and soap, you can pick those. You can also opt for disposables if you like being able to just toss it when it’s run its course.

Then you pick out your handle. Like I said, I’m pretty boring. So I have the standard but they have some fun patterns or a sleek Platinum one with a heavier handle. Last, you select your subscription based on how often you shave and when you’d like refills sent your way. I get mine sent once a month but if you shave more often, you can adjust as needed.

Done and done.

I’ve tried a few of the subscription razor services in the past (and by tried, I just mean I’ve co-opted Drew’s) and never loved the razor. That’s why this is the best of both worlds. It’s the razor you actually want to use (and buy at the store when you remember), sent directly to your door.

It starts at $10 a month and shipping is always free, which is a no brainer with how expensive razor blades can be. No lie, in college, I would always ask my mom to take me to the drugstore so I could stock up on stuff like razor blades, body wash and the other sneaky pricey beauty necessities. I may or may not still do that when she’s in town. Forget shoes, we need paper towels. 🙂

So yeah, sign-up and check one thing off your list from now until the day your credit card expires and you have to go in there and update it. Am I right?

Thanks so much to Gillette Venus for sponsoring this post. As always, I only write about products and services I’ve tried and love or think you all will want to try. All opinions, random ramblings and musings are my own.
