Okay, so I am working on my Cheer manifesto but haven’t had the chance to get all my feelings on this gift from the production gods on paper yet. But just know that I will be beginning our Monica 2020 campaign soon and I’ll be coordinating a group trip to Daytona for this year’s spring break. Stay tuned.
Until then, I’m sharing some upcoming local events – one of which involves yours truly. Unfortunately, this does not include the JamFest World Cheerleading Championships in Indianapolis but consider this your FYI that it’s happening. A friend invited me to go to get an inside look and as much as I wanted to go, I figured I couldn’t skip Drew’s birthday dinner to go watch cheerleading. I mean, I would but I feel like it wouldn’t go over well.
Going to jump right into it because if not I’ll keep talking about Cheer and I know I need to stop.
House of K ‘Out of this World’ Prom Trunk Show
Okay so I know that none of us are going to prom but you all may have a daughter, niece, friend’s daughter, cousin, etc. that needs to know about this event. I’ve also randomly had more people than I’d ever expect ask me about where to find good prom dresses, so here you go.
House of K is owned by Britni from Headcandi (my go-to Derby hat designer) and if you’re not familiar, it’s an occasion dress boutique in New Albany. If you’re ever in need of something fancy for a gala or black-tie wedding, she’s your girl. Also, you may have seen me pop into her store before New Year’s Eve to get decked out in sequins. Beyond just dresses, she has TONS of accessories. Earrings galore, lots of adorable headbands and the cutest clutches and bags. All at super affordable prices.
But this weekend is all about prom. The trunk show will actually be taking place around the corner from her shop at The Loft on Spring (138 E Spring St, right next door to Dress & Dwell). She’ll have over 60 Ellie Wilde dresses as well more than 100 additional prom dresses available for this weekend only. They will have tons of accessories on hand to finish out your look as well as offering alterations, giveaways, snacks and more.
The trunk show starts today and runs through Monday, so you can stop by then if your prom-ready gal is off school. If you go, let her know you saw it here!

Crazy Zen Life Galentine’s Live Show
If you haven’t listened to an episode of Crazy Zen Life, you definitely need to. Shameless Plug: might I recommend starting with an oldie but goodie – one of their very first episodes guest starring me!) Shannon Kessler and Britany Swan are best friends, moms, yoga queens and boss babes (Shannon owns Primp Style Lounge) who share their own stories as well as those of lots of other Louisville creatives. I love how they’ve committed to being totally authentic and giving so many people an outlet to share their perspectives. Most importantly, they’re a ton of fun.
I’m super pumped that they asked me to join them for their live show at Kendra Scott on Thursday, February 13 from 6 – 8 pm. It’s going to be a good time with drinks, shopping and of course, some very important conversations about Cheer. We’ll also be discussing female friendships, some of our favorite products and I’m sure some other random stuff. Would LOVE to see you there!
