New Year, Same Ramblings

Jan 7, 2020

Happy New Year Friends! I’m back and ready to crush the new year. And by crush, I mean struggle to make it out alive but you get the gist.

Feeling pretty inspired for the start of the new year since it coincides with a new season of The Bachelor. Are you all watching? It’s good stuff, not sure how they can expect us to commit to watching three hours of it but I still managed to trudge through the sequin dresses, smeared mascara and excessive aviation puns. What are your thoughts on the season? Yay or Nay? I’m still undecided but obviously will watch the whole thing. I spy a little crazy in that girl Kelly. Hoping they spark enough delight, and insane content, to make me want to bring back the recap posts.

On an entirely unrelated note, we survived the holidays. I feel like we should all collectively high-five. Hoping yours involved as little family drama and as many sweet treats as possible. Going to do a recap on life and other randomness this week but today I’m just trying to get back at it. Basically my New Year’s resolution is to get it together enough to show up on the blog at least three times a week. Hold me accountable.

On this outfit note, I love this dress. Love it so much. I saw it in the window at Zara when we were in Florence and had to have it. Bought it immediately and thought it would be the perfect, fun little floral dress to wear with boots or sneakers. And in the dress’ defense, it is. But after taking these pictures I realized that it is entirely too short for me. I wanted it to work so badly but alas, I am a mom of three with some misconceptions about what my body actually looks like. In my head, I always imagine my mid-section and legs are a bit thinner than in real life.

So I ended up selling it over the weekend to someone who will pull off the look I was envisioning in my head when I bought it. Figured I’d let you know that I tend to overcommit to a trend or look sometimes. There’s so many looks I love but have come to realize it’s just not right for me. Some of those trends are pretty obvious, see: high-waisted bikinis, but this one I had to try and fail to learn.

That being said, the trend isn’t entirely dead to me. Instead I’m on the hunt for one that fits the budget (like this one that’s on sale now for $23) and my length requirements.
