Outfit Post: Get to Work

Oct 23, 2014

I admit it. I can get into a major case of the samesies when it comes to getting dressed in the morning. But the skinny pants + flowy top with an accessory combo to dress it up or down is pretty much what I wear every day. I know, BORING. But hey, it makes getting out the door with two small humans a little more manageable.

Obviously I try to mix it up – or else having this blog would be pretty pointless – and I try to add a little twist to those paper doll dressing basics with color, prints or accessories. Today it’s color. These purple pants were a impulse sale buy in an attempt to step out of my comfort zone but they are surprisingly versatile. And when paired with the right stuff, you can totally avoid looking like a big purple dinosaur.

As a side note, these sunglasses seemed like the most ridiculous things ever when I got them but they make every outfit I wear them with a little more fun. And they are super cheap. Win/win.

p.s. – How do you all feel about the tv post addition? I’m thinking of relegating them to Sundays from here on out but I had to get my feelings about Carrie Mathison out into the open.

Black Crop Blazer: Dress & Dwell (old – similar fancy version here); Purple ‘Minnie’ Pants: J.Crew  – really want them in that emerald color (seen here); Blouse: BCBG (old); Heels: Jessica Simpson (old – love these); Bag: Kate Spade; Sunglasses: c/o ASOS (seen here)

Sorry for all the oldies but goodies but I’m trying to stay committed to the #NoNewThings challenge for myself in October. Promise to start mixing in some newer stuff soon.

The pants are such a unique and bold color! They’re such a good way to break the routine 🙂

  2. I wear the same thing essentially ever day too, so I feel ya there. We’ve all got our own uniform in a sense, at least you make it look good. That’s all that matters.

I can’t even come up with a real reason why I put together the same sort of outfit on a regular basis, but I do!! I guess I just like what I like.

You look awesome – this is a great outfit!! I love all of the detailing on your top and jacket.

Don’t apologize for remixing your items! I enjoy seeing different ways to wear the same items…most of us can’t afford to buy new pieces all the time. Love your style!
