And just like that winter break is over. I’m happy to get back in a routine but I do really love the ease of days at home to do whatever. I feel like I got in so many good workouts, organized more stuff around my house than I had in the last year and FINALLY did all the laundry. Seriously, all of it. I don’t even have a place to put things anymore. All of our drawers are completely full. It’s a modern miracle. Of course, I realize that this feeling of being on top of everything will go out the window within in the week and pure chaos will take back over. I’m going to appreciate it while it lasts.
So it’s back to work today. I’m breaking out my fresh new planner (love this one – going on year two with a Day Designer and can’t say enough good stuff about it; it’s a little heavy but that’s my only complaint) and getting organized around the office. Also getting back to the grind over here on the blog. I’m thinking of sharing some resolutions a little later today – you all may not give a damn but I want to commit them to the internets not just the notebook I tote around. Makes me feel a little more accountable, ya know?
The new year has also coincided with the late arrival of winter. I’m still not over the fact that it was in the 70’s on Christmas Day but now we’re entering the cold, gray days so I’m breaking out my winter coat and settling in for a chilly couple months. I picked up this coat when J.Crew was having a big sale and I love it. But the price tag is a little high when it’s at regular price, so if you’re thinking about snagging one now that it’s actually cold, I suggest keeping an eye out for a sale. I’m sure one will pop up soon.
One quick resolution/goal I’ll share is my annual challenge to avoid buying any new clothes (or really anything other than health/beauty essentials – can’t go a month without moisturizer or foundation). I’m going to try and document the mixing and matching over on instagram. This is going to be a little challenging since I’m pregnant (in case you missed that sneaky announcement – it’s over here) but I’m going to do my best Tim Gunn and try to ‘make it work.’ This outfit is pretty on point with that goal since everything but the coat is at least six months old, that being said – I’ve linked some similar options so you can snag the style if you’re still scooping up sales.
p.s. – The Bachelor starts tonight which means Secondary Embarrassment recaps are back tomorrow!

LOVE that scarf! (And I *may* have done a little happy dance when I found three whole snowflakes on my car this morning!)
