Stocked Up and Ready for Fall (for 25% off!)

Sep 25, 2018

Some people are crazy about the NSale but my favorite sale of the year is the Shopbop Event of the Season. Instead of being limited to a select number of items, you can shop to your heart’s desire from anything on the site and get either 20% or 25% off your entire purchase (based on how much you spend with code STOCKUP18. It’s a great opportunity to splurge on items that rarely go on sale like leather boots, designer bags, premium denim, sunglasses or cashmere sweaters.

I have already done some damage at the sale but rather than splurging on a couple high-end pieces, I decided to revisit my post on creating a capsule wardrobe and grab pieces that can be paired in a variety of ways and worn for more than one season. I also wanted to make sure to find items that wouldn’t break the bank so everything I got was either under $100 or under it once the discount went through. I obviously over ordered so I can try on everything at home and figure out what works and what doesn’t.

Figured I’d share with you everything I snagged and then pull a few more favorites that are under $100. The sale under September 30th but things sell out quickly so be sure to pull the trigger on anything you want before it’s gone!

BB Dakota
Fly Me to the Moon Sweater

At first glance this is your standard lightweight knit sweater but if you look closer it has these fun balloon sleeves. Love a twist on a basic and this is just enough interest to catch my eye. As long as I don’t spill something on it (saying prayers already), I’m guessing I’ll be wearing this one weekly. Obviously I’ll be pairing it with jeans but it would be just as cute with a suede skirt and boots or tossed on with leather leggings and sneakers.

Levi’s 501
Skinny Stretch Jeans

I’ve been seeing everyone and their mother in Levi’s lately so I figured it was about time to give them a try but there was no way in hell I was going to get one of the wedgie styles (yes, that’s what they are called). This pair has that great medium wash that goes with everything and are skinny but not too tight. I like how they have more of a relaxed look which is what I want when I just want a grab and go look on mornings I need to be out the door in a hurry.

Sam Edelman
Stillson Pumps

These shoes aren’t going to change the world but I’ve been in desperate need of a great pair of classic pumps. The nude color and block heel are just what the doctor ordered and I can pair these with everything from dresses to jeans. I’ve been eyeing this exact pair for months and the sale was just what I needed to finally pull the trigger. If you’re in need of something a little more daring or standout, this leopard pair is calling your name.

English Factory
Double Breasted Jacket

Ever since seeing Grace from The Stripe in this colorful grandpa blazer, I’ve been on the lookout for one. After scouring for one in a bold color that didn’t cost as much as a car payment, I decided that I should probably go for one in a more traditional color since I barely go beyond gray and black in the winter months. This one has just the right slouchy feel and will go with just about everything in my very-neutral closet. I can’t wait to break it out with faux-leather leggings or trying it over a mini skirt.

And if you’re worried about the quality being chintzy, I’ve had really good luck in the past with this brand. Everything is really well made and holds up well to wear.

Line & Dot
Anna Sweater

The chances I end up looking like a referee in this are big but again, willing to try. Hoping to be able to pull off the slouchy, tucked in vibe that the model is giving. Plus I am a sucker for sweaters with cuff sleeves since they are a lifesaver when trying to save sweaters from stains when cooking or just being around my kids eating. Yes, I take that into consideration. Strange but true.

Free People
Gossamer V Neck Sweater

If loving Free People is wrong, I don’t want to be right. They are my go-to brand for slouchy, super cozy winter sweaters. I also tend to get hot easily and these aren’t so warm that you’re sweating within minutes of putting them on. I already snagged this turtleneck tunic sweater last month (I have no idea why I was shopping for a sweater when it was 90+ degrees outside) and now I’m grabbing this v-neck option. FYI – both come in a handful of neutrals. The chunky black sweater I bought last year has held up really well so I decided to go with camel and ivory on these two.

Tip: make sure to size down. I think the sweater I got last year was an XS which is not a size I EVER wear. I ordered both this one and the turtleneck one in small and I think it will be just the right oversized but not sloppy fit.

Free People
Elsa Bodysuit

I know bodysuits can be a nightmare but I can’t quit them. Yes, they make going to the bathroom a mission and whenever I wear one I am reminded of my mom getting ready for parties in the early 90’s but I don’t care. I’m all in. I love how they look paired with flares and after buying two Free People options last fall, I was on the hunt for another option. I love the blousy feel of this and how it looks sexy but in a more subtle way. I’ll be rocking it with wide-leg trousers for work outings or with dark denim and bold earrings for a night out.

BB Dakota
Hold on Tight Wide Leg Pants

Okay so these are a little daring but when I saw them, it was love at first scroll. Yes, the color is crazy bold. Yes, the fit isn’t for everyone. And yes, I will probably never be able to pull off the cool girl vibe that’s going on here but I’m willing to at least try. Especially since they are well under $100.

I mean, how cute are they with sneakers. Planning on trying them on with damn near everything in my closet to see if I can make them work for me. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Steven
Lourdes Flats

Over the last year, I’ve slowly weeded out almost all the flats in my closet. Not intentionally but more from the pairs getting worn down and dirty beyond repair. And as much as I love Target flats, they are just not cutting it anymore. I started hunting for pairs but wanted something with a little bit of structure and style but not more than $150. This pair with their small heel, sling back and slight point seem to be the Goldilocks flats I’ve been searching for.

If these end up being a hit, I’ll probably snag them in black too.
