Sometimes life is good. And sometimes, life is still good but it is tough. That’s been the past week or so. I’m not the type of person to be vague or cryptic for the sake of it. So I’ll be totally upfront and say my father-in-law passed away over the weekend after a long battle with cancer.
It’s something we knew was coming, but no matter how much you mentally prepare for something, it still takes a toll. It didn’t help that we got the news while on a trip to Miami for a celebration of life for my grandmother who passed away in late January.
So yeah, it’s been one of those weeks.
That being said, life goes on. I’m trying to look on the positive side of things rather than dwell on the bad. So here we are with just a regular old outfit post. Nothing groundbreaking or life-changing but sometimes that’s all you need to get the wheels rolling again. And lord knows I need to get after it since Derby is sneaking up on me. Speaking of Derby, I’m doing my first shoot today so I’ll be starting to share Derby themed posts in the next week or so. If there’s anything specific you want to see, just drop me an email (danielle@louwhatwear.com) or DM me on Instagram.
Okay a quick run-down of this outfit. I’ve been trying to get out of the rut of all-black winter dressing. Clearly, I swung in the totally opposite direction with an all-white combo. I picked up these jeans at Dress & Dwell before our trip to Mexico and loved them so much that I didn’t want to sideline them until temperatures warmed up.
These are very flattering (which can be tough with white jeans) and fit really well (aka no tugging/adjusting every two minutes). They run true to size. And this sweater is the best light layering piece. I’ve worn it on the plane my last two trips because it’s the perfect amount of warmth. I sized up because I wanted a little of an oversized fit.
Again, don’t forget to let me know what you want to see for Derby. It’s officially that time of year so send your recs my way!
So sorry to hear it’s been such a rough week for your family. Sending lots of love to you all!
