Derby Style: Romping Around For Oaks

Apr 14, 2017

Happy Friday friends! As of today, Oaks is only three weeks away. Can you believe it? I definitely can’t. I have most of our Derby week plans lined up but definitely don’t have all my outfits planned. You’d think that would be one of the first things I nailed down but of course, I’m leaving it until the last minutes.

I’m thinking I may scour the Shopbop sale today to make sure I order a couple things while they’re having their big sale (get 20% off any order and 25% off any order $500+). Thinking about grabbing this for Oaks night.

Speaking of Oaks, I’m not going this year (or at least not planning on it right now – but you never know!) but if I was, I’d be wearing this Draper James romper. At first glance online, I didn’t know how I would feel about the pattern but it is definitely one that I loved WAY more once I put it on. It’s also surprisingly comfortable. That being said, I definitely wouldn’t go the romper route to the track unless you have seats with an indoor bathroom. Sorry if that’s TMI but it’s pretty rough to try and get a romper or jumpsuit back on if you’re in a port-o-let or one of the Paddock bathrooms.

But enough of that and more about this fascinator. I love how sweet this Jill Courtemanche piece is, plus it goes perfectly with the pale pink on this romper. It’s also so lightweight, you can barely tell you’re wearing it. Don’t forget that you can save 20% on any of Jill’s beautiful pieces with code LouWhatWear. Stay tuned because on Monday I’m doing a little Q&A with her to get the inside scoop on her design process.

Back to Draper James really quick though. If you’re on the hunt for a dress that makes you feel like a true Southern belle – look no more. They have so many pretty printed dresses. One thing I love too is you won’t have to stress about whether they are long enough (which can be an issue when hunting for dresses on some other sites). I’ve rounded up a few favorites below.
