Have You Jumped on the CBD Train Yet?

Oct 7, 2019

This post is sponsored by CBDMEDIC but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Anyone who has been in a store, on the internet or hasn’t been avoiding full human contact knows that CBD-infused everything is everywhere.

CBD oils, creams, pills, candy, coffee even pet meds… you name it, they’re putting CBD in it. But to be totally honest, it can all be overwhelming. I promise to do a full post on all the random CBD products I’ve tried (I’ve got a growing list) but today I’m sharing one of my favorite yet.

You’re probably not surprised to hear that I live with a constant slow simmer of stress with a side of anxiety on the next burner over. I could write a short novel on everything I’ve tried to alleviate those at their core but clearly I’m not using those all effectively. Add on working out regularly, and we’ve got a whole mess of tension and occasional pain.

One of the side effects of stress is that I tend to carry a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders. When I go to a massage, it’s the first thing I mention and whenever I make it to acupuncture, it’s on the list of things to focus on. In the last few months, it’s amped up a little more than normal, with lots of stuff necks and cricks that hang around for days. Nothing more ridiculous than having to turn your entire body whenever anyone asks you a question. So awkward and embarrassing.

CBD Medic asked me to try out one of their products – they have a full line of pain relief options – and I immediately honed in on the Back & Neck Pain Relief cream. FYI – I picked it up at CVS which has a whole section dedicated to CBD products and carries the full line of CBDMedic products.

I’ve been using it for about 10 days so far and I really like it. First off, I am very into the fact that it smells a little bit like vapor rub. Reminds me of being a kid and, as an added bonus, it clears out my sinuses. More than a few of the CBD products I’ve tried have had more of an earthy, vitamin-bottle smell which always curls up my nose so the menthol smell in this one was a welcome change.

Since it has menthol it goes on similar to a icy/hot type product, so you get that cooling effect that immediately feels like it’s working. I massage it into my neck and upper back right before bed. It’s a nice way to calm down and relax at the end of the day.

And it’s not on the recommended usage but I’ve been putting a tiny bit (less than pea size amount) under my jaw line to help with the clenching I’ve been doing lately when I sleep.

I noticed a difference the first morning afterwards. There’s still some tension but noticeably less around my neck and jaw. The jaw has honestly been the area I’ve experienced the most relief with, I wake up and realize my jaw is relaxed and not clenched like I’m ready for a fist fight.

Another benefit – I tend to get knots in my shoulders and upper back, after rubbing the CBDMedic cream into those, they are much less pronounced and bothersome. They’re not all gone but much less tight. Hoping that if I keep up with it, they’ll continue to go down.

I’m ready to try the Active Sport ointment to keep on hand for after workouts when my calves or hamstrings are super sore. The CBDMedic line is the first brand of topical medications that combine effective analgesic (I had to look that up, it means pain relieving) ingredients like menthol and camphor with hemp oil extract. The combo definitely works especially for people with chronic pain.

And in case you’re wondering or worried about it, none of the products contain THC. All of the products are available at your local CVS.
