Today’s post is different than the normal routine but I thought it would be fun to show you all a little of what I’ve been working on lately in my 9-to-5 gig. If you’ve been following along for a while, then you know I started my own company last year (along with my partner Lynsey) called Lemonade PR. At my last job, I tried to keep work and the blog entirely separate but it’s a little easier now to incorporate the blog into my work and my work into the blog.
One of our clients is Coopers’ Craft bourbon and we are lucky enough to get to make tasty cocktails and take pictures of them about once a month. It’s a tough gig but someone’s got to do it. Our last shoot had such a pretty mix of delicious cocktails that I thought it would be fun to share one of them over here. If you all are into it, I might start sharing one every month. So let me know what you think in the comments or on your preferred social channel (facebook, instagram, twitter).
And before I get into the recipe, this is me giving you full disclosure that Coopers’ Craft is a client – albeit not a blog client – so I am not being paid to post this on the blog, but I do have a working relationship with the brand.
Okay, so now that we’ve got that out of the way, on to the cocktail. You guys already know that I have totally abandoned winter. I packed it a snack, gave it a hug and sent it on its way a couple weeks ago. I don’t think it wanted to leave, but it couldn’t stay with me anymore. I’m all-in on spring.
So here’s a cocktail to go along with the clothes. The Bourbon Basil-Strawberry Cobbler is a not-too-sweet cocktail that’s just fancy enough to impress guests but not so complicated that you need to be a mixologist to master it. Trust me, if I can make one, anyone can. (It’s just like the whole running thing.)
And if you’re like me and a little iffy on bourbon (which is almost blasphemy here in Kentucky), you should really try Coopers’ Craft. It’s a great sipping bourbon if you’re more of a connoisseur but it makes a great cocktail too. Almost every single drink we’ve whipped up with it has been delicious. And if nothing else, you should make these ice cubes and throw them in a vodka soda or even just have them with a La Croix. They are so tasty and oh so pretty.
Bourbon Basil-Strawberry Cobbler
Ingredients
- 2 oz Coopers’ Craft
- ½ oz lemon juice
- ½ oz Rich simple syrup
- 2 dashes Orange Bitters
- Top with Basil-Strawberry ice (recipe below)

Basil-Strawberry Ice
- Puree strawberries and strain through a fine strainer.
- Add ½ the volume of water to the strawberries and add fine chiffonade of sweet basil and sugar to taste.
