I’m a creature of habit. I like routines, live for a simple everyday uniform and love when I find go-to brands I can depend on for the basics.
Of course, I love trying out new things but sometimes you just want a great white t-shirt and don’t want to try twenty-something options before finding the one.
In case you’re like me (and I’m assuming your at least a tiny bit like me if you’re here), you’re hurried for time and don’t want to spend a million years hunting down the best option especially when it comes to my closet staples: denim, white tees and simple jewelry.
Add a couple accessories or a good blazer plus sneakers or heels and you’ve got the makings of a great outfit. So here’s some of my go-to brands/picks.
Simple Jewelry
Let’s start with jewelry. Typically I don’t wear much. I like to stick with a simple gold necklace, possibly two or three layered. And while I love big, fun earrings, for daily wear I stick with studs, if anything at all.
This solid circle necklace and almost all the simple gold ones I have are from AU-Rate. I’ve shared them before but I honestly just love their stuff. The quality is incredible (it’s all 14K gold or higher) and the prices are much better than you can find elsewhere since it’s direct to consumer. You can even get pieces engraved for a special touch.
Linking my faves below. I also like to look at Shopbop for their selection and Access 79 for more personalized picks.
White Tees
When it comes to a white t-shirt, it’s simple. I have two favorites: H&M’s $4.99 white tee and the Amazon Daily Ritual Pocket Tee. Really, they’re all you need.
The H&M version is a thin, layering tee. The Daily Ritual one is a little heavier weight and is a little oversized. Both come in a ton of colors and The Daily Ritual one comes in a long sleeve version too.
Denim
At this point, I feel like I’ve tried almost every brand out there. Okay, not ALL of them but enough to make a definitive statement on my favorite three brands and the styles I like most for each.
Madewell – The Mid-Rise Skinny is the perfect polished every day jean. The dark wash is good for casual work environments and the lighter washes are the essential weekend jean. I’ve owned a few pairs of these and continue to go back to them time and time again. They hold everything in but aren’t so tight that you can’t move around. The length is perfect but even if it’s not for you, they’ll hem them. Plus they hold up really well. My dark wash pair get worn almost once a week and I’ve had them for 3+ years.
Good American – Good Legs The name says it all, they make your legs look long, lean and damn good. The come in a ton of shades and the website does a great job of showing you what they look like on a variety of body shapes. Take a look at them all and notice how great them all look in them. There’s something about the hip/waist area that slims you and makes your legs look hella long. I didn’t want to believe the hype on them, but it’s true. I have two pairs and I wear them all the time.
Fit tip: Size down at least one size. Or just order two sizes to try. I think they run a little big but have been between sizes as well.
AGOLDE Toni Mid-Rise Straight Jeans My hands down favorite straight leg jean. Have them in this wash and black and would wear them everyday if I could. Let’s talk about the fit. They hit in the perfect spot so you’re never having to adjust the waist band – tight in the right spots with room where you need it. They don’t have stretch in them but that doesn’t mean they’re stiff. They feel like they’ve already been broken in for you, so they have that soft denim feel that makes them so much more comfortable than your standard straight leg jean.
They fit true to size and pair well with almost any shoe – from sneakers to heels to booties. Love ’em so much.
Honorable Mentions: J.Crew Boyfriend Jeans, Abercrombie Denim (best bang for your buck at any style)
I’m in love with simplistic looks- they always look better to me! This is giving me so much inspo, thank you so much!
The necklaces are so amazing for fall! Thanks for the tip!
