Happy New Year!

How is your 2015 going so far? We rang in the new year with friends at a party with the always fun Tony & The Tanlines headlining (wish I’d gotten a few better pictures of my dress but you can check out the sequin explosion here) and then crashed on the couch all day yesterday recovering.

I did manage to write down a few new year’s goals (I hate calling them resolutions since I feel like that makes them harder to stick to). Really it’s just two big ones.

1. Run the Kentucky Derby Mini-Marathon in April with my pal Caitlin – sign up and do it with us!

2. Spend Less/Save More. That second one is a big one. It’s especially hard to try to avoid shopping and buying things with the blog but I’ve realized and heard from friends that they’d like to see more  things re-mixed and worn different ways (you know that cost per wear). So for the month of January I’m committing to no shopping and making the most out of my closet. I’m also planning on doing some “Inspired By” posts. I did this a couple years ago and had a lot of fun trying to make things work. I’ve got a Pinterest board full of looks I’d like to recreate to keep my inspired. And to keep me accountable, I’m going to post my outfit everyday on Instagram – feel free to follow along (and let me know what you love/hate).

On to this outfit … Nothing too fancy here except these boots. Love ’em so much. I had to splurge and grab them when Madewell had their 30% off sale. I mean, they were already marked down and then a sale on top. I couldn’t say no. The heel is so great on these and despite being a little high they are super comfortable.

Also quick disclaimer, my hair is crazy light in these pictures. On a whim, I thought I’d do some highlights and then quickly realized that looks is not for me. So earlier this week, I went back to the brown with a slight ombre and I feel back to my old self.
