Yay for making it to the weekend. We’re laying low after almost a full week of celebrating this little guy’s fifth birthday (so many legos – so many pieces). D3 got a basketball goal from us for his big day – which he loved but we did not love putting together. Some couples may be great at teaming up on DIY projects but for the sake of our marriage, Drew and I make sure those kind of projects are few and far between. Four and half hours later (yes, you read that right) with only minimal bickering, we had that sucker together. I can assure you it will be the last basketball goal I ever put together.
On to the outfit… Truth be told, I would have never bought this poncho without a little push. A couple months ago, I found out my friend Madison was working at Trunk Club and that they now were offering their personal shopping service for women (it used to be just for the fellas). As much as I love shopping, I was in a bit of a rut and I just don’t have as much time as I wish I did for hitting up the stores. Long story short, this poncho came in my first trunk and I’ve been wearing it nonstop ever since. It was a bit of a splurge but I’ve gotten tons of wear out of it. Glad she pushed me out of my comfort zone.
To mix it up (since normally I just wear it with skinny jeans and a long black t-shirt), I layered it with a stripe tee and paired it with flares.
Also, this post is NOT sponsored – I just have to give credit where credit is due. Seriously though, if you don’t want to hassle with the malls, drop Madison a line. She’ll get to know your style and send you the best package you’ve ever received. The only bummer is sending back the stuff that doesn’t work/fit in the budget (it’s normally the latter for me cause the picks are on point). It’s a great thing to try to start off 2016 if you’re looking to freshen up your wardrobe or get out of a style rut.
