Summer is for the Girls!

Jun 21, 2018

Happy First Day of Summer friends! I mean, let’s be real, it’s felt like summer for the last month around here but now it’s official.

No one is happier about summer than my girl Reese. The kid was made for summer. Minimal rules and adult oversight coupled with easy access to a swimming pool, all her friends and a seemingly unlimited supply of popsicles. Life is good. For her, at least. My babysitting/snack bar tab is spiraling out of control but whatever.

Last week, with her babysitter out of town on vacation, Reese and I had our own little girls day over at The Willows Apartments. Obviously I’m not in the market for an apartment, although now that I think about it, it would be a good hide out to escape to for a clean, kid-free spot to watch whatever I want on Netflix. But when The Willows asked me to come and check out the place, I was happy to oblige for a little fun in the sun with my girl.

We had a fun little pool date while getting to check out the whole community- from the pool (that has a grill that you can use along with ping-pong tables and a gazebo) to the seriously gorgeous clubhouse complete with work stations, a meeting room and enough candy to last Reese at least three hours. Not to mention the fridge full of La Croix and unlimited Starbucks. I’m thinking I may just head over there when I need to relax for a few hours instead of tackling laundry and cleaning up around the house. Think they’ll mind?

It’s located off Hurstbourne Lane, just about halfway between Shelbyville Rd and 264 so if you’re in the market (or know someone who is) looking for a spot in the East End with easy access to the highways – this is the spot. And while the amenities were on point (I peeked in to the fitness center which was really nice and full of everything you’d need), the staff there was even nicer. So friendly.

The pictures do most of the talking so you don’t need me blabbering on about it. But if you’re looking for a good spot for yourself, a friend moving to town or a recent college grad, you should check it out. They even do Food Truck nights on Thursdays and other fun events like popsicles from Steel City Pops poolside. If you mention Lou What Wear, they’ll give you $250 off your first month’s rent.

p.s. – we shot so much fun content during our day at The Willows that I’ll be sharing each of these looks as outfit posts in the next couple days (other than this red dress that you can find here), so stay tuned!

Thanks so much to The Willows for sponsoring this post.

  1. I mean, I keep threatening to rent an AirBnB to be able to write without distraction… maybe I should get an apartment instead… The La Croix and Starbucks savings would count as a smart business decision, right? 😉

Seriously, though, you and Reese are adorable. My nieces are all about the summertime life, too!

  2. […] pipe dream on hold, I’ll get to the point of all this. Last year, the team at The Willows invited Reese and I over for a pool party (which has some of my favorite blog pictures ever) so this year, they invited me back to hang with […]
