The New Normal

Jun 13, 2017

You guys, life is a lot different when you don’t have to go to an office everyday. Not going to lie, part of me feels a little lost, like I’m supposed to be somewhere else. But the other part feels so excited and empowered to not be stuck on someone else’s schedule.

If you missed it, I left my job a couple weeks ago to start up a new business but these early weeks are a lot of hurry up and wait. Knocking off certain things off the to-do list – equipment, emails, meeting with CPA (woof – taxes) and then a lot of waiting to hear back. Once we have all the branding finalized, I’ll definitely be sharing but don’t want to jump the gun on anything. Either way, if you’re in Louisville and need of PR help, holla at ya girl (danielle@louwhatwear.com for now). Okay enough of my new business pitch since that’s not what you’re here for.

The thing is, I’ve been wearing outfits like this to the “office” aka coffee shops. It’s nice to not worry about getting office ready every morning and having a little more time to get rolling in the AM. I mean, as I write this I’m sitting outside (it’s ridiculously hot), waiting for D3 to finish swim practice – so yeah, the flexibility is nice, if not a little toasty.

That’s not to say that I won’t be back into the old routine sooner than later but trying to enjoy these few weeks in between while they last – especially since they fell during a pretty sweet time of year. Oh and speaking of sweet, I finally tried Boudreaux’s Snoballs in Middletown yesterday and it is delicious. If you’re in need of a summer treat, I highly suggest heading over there.

This white t-shirt is worth mentioning on its own too, since it is my perfect white t-shirt. I know we all have our own version of the perfect white t-shirt (for some of you, it may still be something you’re still hunting for) but this one from Nordstrom is as close to perfect as I’ve found. It’s lightweight but not sheer. Has a great neckline, holds its shape (i’ve had this one almost a year) and still looks white after a million washes. I’m a big fan of the brand – Caslon from Nordstrom – so I’ve linked a few other options below. Best part? They’re all well under $40.

I missed the post about the job! Congratulations! I look forward to seeing what is next for you.

Also, I love the look. I don’t trust myself in white, though, unfortunately. Hahah.
