Twist on a Classic

May 31, 2017

Sorry, it’s been a little slow over here, the Memorial Day holiday extended a little bit for me. Less from the vacation side of things and more from the picking up my life after three days of disregarding it. So we’re back in action again.

By the way, I hope you all liked last week’s return of the Creative Louisville series. I have a few more on tap for the summer and am always looking for more fun people to feature, so if you have anyone you’d like to recommend (or you think you’d be perfect) drop me a line – danielle@louwhatwear.com

Talking about my very favorite item of clothing today – the white shirt. I love a classic white shirt in practically every variation – the white t-shirt, a classic button-down, something a little lacya boho style blouse – if it’s white and it’s a top, I’ll probably love it. This tie-sleeve one is the latest to catch my eye and move to the front line of my dressing rotation.

And as much as I love the off-the-shoulder trend, it’s been hard for me to find options that work for both my lifestyle and broad shoulders. With kids, off-the-shoulder isn’t the easiest look to pull off unless you’ve ditched them with the babysitter and will have no need to lift a small human for any reason. This one is technically supposed to be worn off-the-shoulder but you can get away with leaving it slightly on the edges which is great for both bra wearing and child holding.

We have to talk about these earrings really quickly too. You may recognize them from this wishlist and they made their way from online cart to my jewelry box. I am obsessed and they aren’t heavy at all. They come in a great bright blue color too that may or may not be calling my name.

Last but not least, this top was a score from the new J.McLaughlin location in The Summit at Fritz Farm in Lexington. If you haven’t made the trip down 64 to check it out, you need to make plans to. Their location there is so cute – with a wall of greenery outside and so much good stuff inside. Lots of easy basics, fun summer dresses and enough solid white blouses to create a full week’s rotation. I’ve rounded up some of my other favorites below.
