In Defense of Colored Pants

Aug 28, 2018

Remember that time around 2012 – 2013 when colored pants were THE THING? Even if I wanted to, my blog archives will never let me forget (woo – there are some laughs to be had back there). I had a pair of denim in every color of the rainbow. Red, blue, mint green, peachy pink, pale pink, green… I could go on but feel like I should stop. And all of them were paired perfectly with a chambray buttondown and a statement necklace.

What a time to be alive.

After that fad and the bubble necklaces that came with it drifted into the sunset, I packed up and parted with my colored jeans. But lately, I’m drifting back to my old ways. Okay so I won’t be creating a rainbow effect in my closet but I did pick up a couple pairs at ZARA last month – these pink trousers and a wide-leg purple pair. Yes, that sounds weird but I promise they are cute. Or at least I think they are cute. I guess it’s still TBD.

This time around though, I’m trying to pair them with simpler, more classic pieces rather than going full-on trendapalooza. So a simple black tee (you guys, Abercrombie’s t-shirts are life and so cheap), black heels and an understated gold tassel necklace. Nothing too over the top so that hopefully, in a few years, I won’t be looking back at this colored pant outfit and cringing. Only time will tell though.
