All in all, 2015 was a pretty great year. Busy, hectic and filled with a lot of running late but also a lot of fun. Sometimes things got away from me or let’s be honest, I let them slip but from start to finish it’s been a year filled with more highs than lows and for that, I’m very thankful.
It was the year of learning to balance life with two kids (so. much. driving. and why does it never fail that one of them has always dropped something, lost something, left something behind). Still adjusting to that one and trying to figure out what we’re going to do with the addition of a third next year (#prayforme). We’re also packing up shop and moving in the next month – so that adventure on the horizon has me filled with the excited anxiety that can only accompany a move. Anyone want to come and help me pack up the overwhelming mess of crap that is my basement? My goal for 2016 is to eliminate clutter and the move is step one.
2015 was definitely the year of the Charleston trip for me with three long-weekends in the brightest spot in the South. This trip with Drew was my favorite but the trip to Charleston Fashion Week with Belk was certainly a memorable one filled with champagne, good eats and lots of laughter with new (and old) friends.
Derby 2015 was one for the records (and not just because of American Pharoah’s monster Triple Crown run). Partnering up with Jaclyn Journey and Whitney Neal on the annual Derby Dress of the Day series made it the best yet. Jaclyn’s floral backdrops were ah.maz.ing (make it yourself with her DIY instructions here). And as always, it would not be possible without a bomb group of gals that came out to model the looks. On the work front, getting to be a part of the Hermitage Grand Gala was an experience I’ll never forget. Sometimes work projects are just that, a lot of work but this one was something special. Don’t get me wrong, it was a lot of late nights, getting yelled at from time to time and figuring out crisis after crisis but getting to walk Chris Rock and Darius Rucker (along with some other random Derby celebs) down the red carpet was pretty cool. Followed that night up with a day at the track with some of my favorite people – it was a good one. I’m going to have to sit out Kentucky Derby 142 but I don’t want to talk about that or I’ll start getting FOMO and we’re still five months away.
One of my favorite parts of the year has been the opportunity to meet so of Louisville’s most creative people and share their stories in the Creative Louisville series. I’ve taken a bit of a break on it recently because of work commitments but I’m already lining up new posts for 2016 and hope to keep sharing the stories of these crazy, successful and extremely talented Kentuckians. Also, if you know someone that just NEEDS to be featured – let me know about them!
I’ve got a lot of ideas on how to improve things around these parts for 2016 along wth some new projects in the works but I’d love to hear from you on things you liked, things you hated (be honest) and what you’d like to see more of in the new year. Lou What Wear started and remains a creative outlet for sharing things that I think are pretty, funny, interesting, tasty, beautiful, cool or just plain silly but I definitely want to continue growing the content and sharing more of the stuff you like to see whether that be decor, fitness, beauty, party ideas or gift giving. So share your likes/loves/dislikes (cause hate is a little strong, ya know?) in the comments. Here’s to 2016 but before we close the book on 2015, here’s a few of my favorites from the last year (clearly 2015 was the year of the hat too – i may or may not look back at that cringe, we’ll see).
Happy New Year!

Don’t forget to drop me a line in the comments on what you’d like to see more of in 2016! xo
2015 has definitely been a whirlwind! Can’t wait to see what the new year has in store, and to see more of your Creative Louisville series!

Wait, was that an announcement?!?
Haha, I snuck the original announcement in to my christmas post. I hate bringing attention to it, especially since it’s #3 so I just slid it in there. 🙂
